Charming Corners

El Sauzal, the Best Views of the Island

If anything sets the town of El Sauzal apart, beyond its charming corners, it's its panoramas.

Located in the north of Tenerife, halfway between Santa Cruz and Puerto de la Cruz, on a cliff, the entire town is essentially a vast viewpoint from which to admire a unique view of Mount Teide guarding the Orotava Valley or the blue expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. Away from the more touristy routes, El Sauzal welcomes anyone who wishes to delight in the tranquility of a welcoming and peaceful town.

The setting of St. Peter's Square with its church, the fourth built on the island after the conquest, is a good start to enjoy El Sauzal. A few meters away is the Los Lavaderos park-lookout, a small verdant oasis of water and vegetation where time seems to slow down.

Among its must-sees are the Honey and Wine House, with a display of the best of these two products made on the island, or the House Museum of the Servant of God, whose body, after nearly 400 years since her death, remains incorrupt. From the Las Breñas lookout, one can enjoy one of the best panoramic views of northern Tenerife. It is a broad platform adorned with various landscaped terraces with endemic species, from which the eye gets lost in the green peaks of the island and in the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean.
