World Conservation Day

Since 2013, World Conservation Day (also known as Wildlife Day) is celebrated annually on March 3.

This day, declared by the United Nations, strives to bring awareness to the value and importance of nature, as well as the current issues that threaten it. The date was chosen to commemorate the approval of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). CITES is a significant international agreement that works to protect wildlife and was signed on March 3, 1975.

In recognition of World Nature Day, let us take a moment to appreciate the extraordinary diversity of wildlife and marine life on our planet. As we are all aware, forests are essential for sustaining life on Earth, as well as helping to mitigate the effects of climate change. Unfortunately, many species have become endangered or have gone extinct due to a combination of factors. Through World Nature Day, we can raise awareness about how we can work together to conserve the planet. This year’s World Nature Day focuses on “Forests and livelihoods: sustainability of peoples and the planet”, aiming to promote sustainable practices in order to protect our environment and ensure a better future for us all. We must all take action and do our part to help ensure the survival of our planet.

Today, it is more important than ever to raise awareness about World Nature Day, a day dedicated to raising global awareness of the importance of nature in our lives and the urgent need for its protection. The effects of human activity on the environment are more evident now than ever before, with climate change leading to an alarming increase in extinction of species worldwide. The loss of biodiversity causes serious problems for humans, such as the loss of potential medicines, an increase in the spread of diseases, and a deterioration of soil quality. Pollution by plastic and fires have also had destructive consequences for nature, killing billions of animal lives and burning millions of hectares of land. It is essential that all people take responsibility for the protection of nature, and World Nature Day serves as an important reminder of this. We must take action to reduce our carbon footprint, engage in sustainable practices, and support initiatives advocating for the protection of our environment. By doing this, we can ensure a future where we can all live in harmony with nature.
